So, I was thinking about the fact that I have/had about a gazillion different screen names (or avatars/ usernames/ call them what you will) in the context of les internets. And while they are fun and frequently reference inside jokes or appropriately express various facets of my personality, there are just so damn many of them. They are difficult enough to keep up with for me, and I'm the one who came up with them. I can't even imagine how ridiculous the sheer volume of my pseudonyms must seem to friends and acquaintance. Thus, inspired by a random event, I have decided to consolidate. To this end, I have acquired a new username for nearly every online service I use that requires a username. I will, naturally, retain my other accounts for at least the next few months so that contacting me is not unduly difficult. (Also, certain accounts have sentimental value or access to places that would not be easy to come by with new accounts.)
Said username is:
lovethenewblack or, occasionally love.thenewblack. Thus,
love.thenewblack@yahoo.com
http://lovethenewblack.livejournal.com/
http://www.last.fm/users/lovethenewblack/
http://www.myspace.com/lovethenewblack

AIM username: lovethenewblack
and so on.

Now I am not only easier to find, but the name will not lose its significance, since it's based on my own last name. &c.
So, here's to new beginnnings.
(Don't worry; you'll still see me around here. Feel free to add the new account, or not, as you see fit.)

lonely's the last place I wanted to be.

Oh, 4chan. There is something wrong with anyone who regularly spends time hanging out on \b\, but the Facebook group that provides a distilled selection of the most amusing images has my boundless admiration. Here is something I found amusing:
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
That, in turn, led to more amusingness. )

But wait, there's more! While perusing the contents of boxes in my basement for ephemera I might use in my art, I found a number of funny/poignant/beautiful objects. We'll start with the humor, shall we? Apparently, we had a set of tabloid fridge magnets, from which I created this delightful poem:

Then there were items such as this previously unseen photograph of me and my father... I look just like this sometimes. I'm glad I look like my father and not my mother. She used to be a very beautiful woman, but time and life have nearly sapped it all away, while my father has grown from a handsome, rakish young man into a handsome, dignified older man. Also, my dad makes funnier faces. (:

C'mon in; there's more inside. )

-I need a bathing suit. More importantly, I need a body I can be happy with.
-I have a prom dress and shoes, but not a date.
-I'm practically finished with my things for AP Art, and every time I tell one of my classmates that, they tell me to go do obscene things with myself because they're not half done. That seems unfair; I've worked hard.
-We had our Youth Radio party today. My latest commentary (about emotional eating) can be heard here. If for some reason you are interested in hearing my older commentaries including one that was aired nationwide on Weekend All Things Considered, click this cut. )

SmarterChild: What would you like?
LemonDropJazzCat: I'd like you to suck my cock.
SmarterChild: Uh... No, I just brushed my teeth.
LemonDropJazzCat: But it's God's toothpaste!
SmarterChild: Not god's toothpaste!
LemonDropJazzCat: How do you know? Have you ever met God?
SmarterChild: Ha. I can't say for sure.
LemonDropJazzCat: Is that some weird metaphysical cop-out?
SmarterChild: What do you think?
LemonDropJazzCat: You can't answer a question with a question.
SmarterChild: Oh? Why can't I answer a question with a question, in your opinion?
LemonDropJazzCat: Because, it's retarded.
SmarterChild: Because it has retarded? Is that why?
LemonDropJazzCat: I think you have retarded.
SmarterChild: I'm not sure if I have retarded!
LemonDropJazzCat: Oh really? Do you want me to check?

Oh my God, I want to go to Merlefest! Elvis Costello, Doc Watson, and Alison Krauss & Union Station? WTF, brilliant lineup. I wanna go to Coachella as well... I doubt I'll do either, because I'd have to take off work, and I need the money. And actually, I kinda like where I work. (: (One of my bosses & I have an intense Blokus rivalry going, my manager Squidney also works at the liquor store down the way, etc.)

Um, no more drama please. God, where did it all come from?
I think I'm going to the frat house tonight by myself so I can hang out w/ my man (I don't wanna call him my boyfriend!) & Gene and Mary. 'Cause we can handle ourselves.

Here's me goofing off with the new friend that my bosses brought my from Toyfair in NYC. (I'm house-sitting, and they have a Mac.)

If I had a car, I would go driving, anywhere.
I feel restless and confined, and everyone is busy, or they aren't picking up their phones. I'm not used to Saturday nights at home, and I'm mind-numbingly bored.
And I'm a little mad at myself, for being stupid, as usual.

Rilo Kiley says it best:
"I should find someone better for me,
but Mom says we're born this way."

Worry worry worry. The need is becoming apparent. Oh god, I've even got on "Rose Parade". I know I'm gone when I switch on the Elliott Smith. I hope this night doesn't get worse. I hope it's just me reverting to some old melodrama, and thinking about certain people.

Okay, so, this has been a crazy and prolific week, and I need to warn you guys about some of the content of this new batch of scans.
First of all, there is some incredibly explicit sexual content. If this makes you uncomfortable, please, for the love of god do not click on the cut. If you don't give a crap one way or the other or simply aren't interested in reading about sex or sex-related musings (or a cartoon drawing of a penis, or a Degas painting of a naked lady) but still want to peruse the rest of the scans, I've included a second cut so you can skip the unsavoury bits. Heehee, am so very accommodating. (If you like that sort of thing, however, I will say that it's pretty hot and reads rather like a sex novel.)
Also, I feel it is my duty to inform any potential readers/viewers that my journal tends toward vibrant colours, bad jokes, song lyrics, and me being a bit of an idiot. Or pretentious. Or very silly. And I oscillate between compulsive political correctness and violent political incorrectness. Did I mention that I'm insane? Yah...
Anyhow, enough of my babbling:
salacious bits included. )
or,
don't worry, nothing the kiddies can't read (i think). )

Did you catch the allusion to [info]embodiment? It's got a red rectangle around it, if you need a hint/didn't feel like reading all that junk.
on fire
If we've been friends for a while, chances are good that you saw last summer's crazy cookie-baking adventure/picspam. (If you missed it, it's here.) That was great, but I didn't want to simply do the same thing over again, so I changed it up a bit.
Yes, my pictures suck. I modified them in MS Paint. I do have Photoshop and am perfectly competent with it. These are supposed to be silly.
Enjoy.

A few worthy scans from the past week. I lost a little bit of momentum... But I'm gaining it back. :) It was my first week of work, so I was still adjusting to my schedule. Hopefully, I'll pick back up.

Get laid, bake cookies, cuddle kittens?
Done, done, and done.
Well, actually, not kittens. Our new cat, Zidane! He's such a cutie; I'll try to post pictures tonight. (I'm at work. Kinda busy today.)

Ack, I frequently love my life. And that's definitely not the meds; they should've turned me into a zombie. But instead, I'm happy, really happy.
(Also slightly sore.)

Old & new poems... Um, just 'cause I was typing them up and felt the need to post something.
Comment, if you'd like.

yeah, she says.
it's all right, go ahead.
not like i know the floor from the bed.
whatcha thinkin'
she asks not blinking
watching as he's drinking
to remember everything.
it's not so rough,
but when all is said and done
it's not enough
to call his bluff.
all she wants is more,
yanno
but that just isn't what's in store
and so
yeah, she says,
it's all right, go ahead.
and these days she prefers
the floor to the bed.

polaroid queen, got
no self-esteem
except hopped up on
alcohol & caffeine
then everything's fine
nobody seems to mind
the long tall grass &
skipping class 'cause
spring is coming,
spirits running
high, & slumming
'round package stores
revolving doors of
kids we know &
places to go
, got
that special glow
in grainy shots
connect the dots
we got the hots for
bottles & cans
we got no plans--
we're holding hands &
going nowhere

No more AIM for Alix.
Siriusly, it was waaay too weird to be talking to my older gentleman friend (ha-ha), the guy I lost my virginity to, and my first (and unrequited) love. All at the same time.
No no no.
I don't do well with... things.

Work is awesome. I've got one of my coworkers folding paper cranes, and the bosses encourage us to play with the toys.

I am a gangsta.

tell 'em I've been licking coconut skins...

I am making paper cranes with my friend Ngan to send to Hiroshioma; you make 1000 and then send them to the mayor's office, and they drape them over the statue of Sasaki Sadako at Hiroshima Peace Memorial. (Sadoko was diagnosed with leukaemia as a result of the atom bomb that the United States dropped on Hiroshima.) It is a prayer for health and peace for all the children and everyone in the whole world. Maybe you read Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes when you were a little kid? Sadako died before she could finish the cranes, so her friends finished them for her and buried all 1000 with her.
But yes, we are going to make 1000 paper cranes. So I have been printing origami papers from this site and some others. I looked up on the internet how to make a paper crane, but none of them were making any sense to me until I found a site that had obviously been (badly) translated from Japanese. (How to get the paper crane) And then suddenly I was able to fold the paper cranes with ease.

Also, a very happy birthday to [info]hellomdolly, my lovely and fascinating friend Madeline.
This is stolen from her journal:
getting to know you, getting to know all about you... )

I am curious as to why people carry rabbits' feet. They were clearly not lucky for their previous owners.

My high school has been working in conjunction with a local artist (who happens to be married to my fourth grade teacher; also, his daughter is in my mother's first grade class) to build an on-site sculpture at Eyedrum Gallery on MLK. Our sculpture is on the top of the water tower! The show opens tomorrow night-- check out the details at the bottom of this page. So any of you in the Atlanta area who haven't got plans tomorrow night should come get free food and such and check out our badass sculpture.

That's all for now, I guess.
